I seems as if the digital AES output of the DDC was overloading the B3 AES input. Cutting to the chase, what I discovered was that I had to set Roon to “Device Volume” and drop the digital volume control to 75 of 100. I have always used Roon set to “Fixed Volume” so that is where I started. I would say that it was clipping but it really sounded like an issue in the digital domain. Once I got it configured it sounded very good but whenever I turned the volume up or the music had a crescendo I got a lot of static. Numbers below 1.0 mean that the CPU on your Roon core is not powerful enough to execute the configuration you've requested. This morning I set up my Mutec to use AES into the B3. The Aroon indicator, developed by Tushar Chande, indicates if a price is trending or is in a trading range. It can be Purple, Green, or Yellow, meaning: Yellow indicates low-quality playback. Use the processing speed indicator to get a sense of how 'close to the line' you are. It is easily possible that the Baltic USB will sound better and I can happily sell off some equipment. Having said that I want to circle back and at least try my Mutec USB and Denefrips Hermes DDC’s. I know that in forums where Lampizator DACs are discussed I never see others using a DDC. This allowed me to use the AES input of my previous Schiit Yggdrasil, its best input.įirst of all I am very impressed with the sound I am getting using USB straight in to my Baltic. When i streamed DSD format files from roon nucleus to RS150, the roon signal path (see attached screen shot) shows encapsulation stage DSD over PCM (DoP). With my previous systems I have used a DDC to re-clock the USB input from my Roon NUC endpoint which runs AudioLinux. Hi, I have the RS150 connected as roon endpoint and USB out to DAC that supports native DSD. I also tried it with Hugo 2 and the end result was a bit meh.I am in the process of burning in a Lamptizator Baltic 3 DAC and trying to figure out the best way to use it. People who love HQPlayer are people like me who have mind blowing results when combining that with DACs like May which is basically a match made in heaven with HQPlayer. For example Holo Spring is much more affordable than May and still can take you to the moon (I've been told). 1 Quote rplace Heritage Members 5. I don't mean that you should go all the way to Dave, but it may show you the difference that the DAC can make. When listening to Roon, can you post a screen shot or two of your signal path - it's the colored icon to the left of the previous-track button at the bottom of the Roon app. Is there any way to improve this It seems like the lower quality signal path indicator and my ears agree. In settings, make sure REW is using the correct input and output. Start REW, press Yes to select the microphone and select calibration file (use the zero degree one). For me personally comparing Hugo 2 and Dave with Focal Utopia was a revelation (unfortunately for my wallet). The Signal Path shows a lot of conversions, down-sampling and floating point conversion. Connect the miniDSP UMIK-1 to your computer. When I pause the track, at first there’s no loud static burst, but once the Roon signal path indicator goes out, the same loud static burst sound happens. The better the headpphones, the bigger the difference compared to Qutest. Aloha, For some reason, when using the Bridge II and Roon, I get a loud static burst when I begin to play a track. Try to find a Chord dealer that has Dave and try multiple headphones with that. Once I deselected it and chose Roon Audio 2.0 as the audio zone the LAN input has worked as expected, that is, I am seeing the expected resolution of the album being streamed in the OLED panel. Unfortunately I think there is no easy way out but to upgrade your DAC. I am not sure how to identify the signal path per se, but I had actually chosen the Gustararender-1v3 via airplay as an audio zone. I think staging is where DACs differ most after Qutest -level. When I upsample with HQPlayer, the stage with May is absolutely insane. FWIW I switched from Qutest to Holo May to get bigger staging and I can say that the difference is huge.
